Events Programme for the 2019 Gilbert and Sullivan Convention
Grim’s Dyke 24-26 May 2019

We present an attractive and exciting programme which will make this Convention a very special event to remember. Many of our Vice Presidents are planning to join us during the weekend.

Saturday 25 May Afternoon - options

‘They are indeed, jolly utter’ - the History of Patience and the Pre-Raphaelites

An introduction by Leon Berger ahead of the evening performance by Opera Anywhere

Options: Specialist G&S Themed Tours and Talks 

1. The History of Grim’s Dyke and the GardensTalk and Guided Tour

2. Guided Tour of Stanmore Church and visit to Gilbert’s Grave

3. Visit the Exhibition in the Sullivan Suite

Or just relax and unwind in the beautiful former home or/and gardens of W.S. Gilbert

To assist with transport arrangements it would be helpful if those wishing to visit the church and grave (Option 1) register with John Tritton at the Convention Booking Office in advance of the Convention as places are limited. It may be possible to accommodate those not registered on the day but this cannot be guaranteed.

Sunday 26 May Morning

Optional Time of Reflection with a Sullivan theme - Music Room

John Balls and Arthur Barrett will lead an interlude on Sullivan hymns and Choral Music including The Golden Legend and a tribute to Sir Charles Mackerras, plus an opportunity to sing 2 Sullivan hymns.

Includes 3 course Dinner.  A limited number of places may be available for those not wishing to dine. Overnight accommodation available.

Note: This event can be booked using the booking form but the cost is additional and NOT included in the Convention Fee.
